Nada Protocol
NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) Protocol
The NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) Protocol is a standardised, simple auricular acupuncture technique involving the insertion of up to five dine, sterile, disposable needles into specific points on each ear.
The five standard points used in the NADA protocol are:
- Sympathetic (calms the nervous system and aids relaxation)
- Shen Men (also known as "Spirit Gate," reduces anxiety and nervousness)
- Kidney (calms fears and supports internal organ healing)
- Liver (assists in detoxification and reduces anger)
- Lung (promotes emotional release and improves respiratory function)
The treatment is typically administered sitting quietly for 30 to 45 minutes while the needles remain in place, creating a meditative and calming environment. Reflexology can be given as the needles do their work. The needles are then removed and ear seeds can be put in their place.
The NADA Protocol is recognised as a best practice in the treatment of substance use disorders and is increasingly used as an adjunctive therapy in behavioural health, including for addiction recovery, smoking cessation, weight loss, stress, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, and emotional regulation.
Airmid Therapies is certified by Newry Environmental Health Dept. to Carry Out Dry Needling Treatments.
Our therapists Sharon and Anne offer the NADA protocol and Ear Seeds.
Note: Dry Needling therapy is not a substitute for medical treatment nor is it a diagnostic system. Always consult a GP or other health professional for medical attention and advice.
