Manual lymphatic drainage uses light, rhythmic movements to encourage lymph fluid to move through the body. Where appropriate, it can help manage swelling caused by a build-up of lymph fluid.

What happens during your appointment?

We begin with a consultation so you can tell us how you’re feeling, what is bothering you and any medical conditions or recent procedures.

Your therapist will explain the treatment and adapt the session to the areas that need attention. You’ll be comfortably positioned and covered with towels throughout, with only the area being worked on uncovered.

You can enjoy the quiet, talk or ask questions. Please let us know about any discomfort so we can adjust your treatment.

Will the ACE machine be used?

Your appointment can be carried out with or without the ACE cupping machine.

If your therapist feels it is suitable, they will explain its use and discuss it with you before including it. Manual lymphatic drainage and machine-assisted cupping are different techniques; the choice will depend on your needs and suitability.

Seeking support after surgery or cancer treatment?

Please contact us before booking if you have lymphoedema, have recently had surgery or are receiving or recovering from cancer treatment.

We’ll discuss your circumstances and whether medical guidance or clearance is needed. If your needs require specialist lymphoedema care, we’ll recommend the appropriate service.
